CAO Orellana cigars are the latest installment to the brands enormously popular Amazon series. What really makes Orellana stand out, is the rare tobacco from Brazil known as Braganca that is used for part of the filler blend.

Veins are well pressed, seams tight, bunch and roll slightly lumpy but has a nice give and head is seamlessly wrapped. Nosing the wrapper tells wet barnyard, damp soil and cedar. Nosing the foot gives a great plum jam, assertive cedar and light black pepper spice.

CAO Orellana is rolled with a Nicaraguan binder and a three-country filler mix of tobaccos from Brazil, Colombia and the Dominican Republic. The red-hued wrapper is called Cubra and is said to be grown in the Bahia region of Brazil in the open sun. “Like the other Amazon series cigars, Orellana uses a unique tobacco called Bragança from Brazil. CAO has done a very good job exploiting some rare tobaccos from the Amazon in this series and Orellana is a great way to tie up the series. Or is this the beginning of a new trilogy? Whatever the case, Orellana was medium-plus in body with plenty of complexity and unusual flavors and combinations that provided an excellent journey of discovery.
